Our next, "Big Event!" On February 26, at Tower Records in Shibuya, the Press Conference for Earth Day Tokyo 2008, was held in the underground performance space called, "Stage One." A fitting name, since the Press Conference was clearly the first major public outreach by the NPO that runs Earth Day each year.

Reiko and I are on the Steering Comittee, so we were there as over 100 journalists and cameramen jammed into folding chairs to hear the presentation and heartfelt appeals of Earth Day Comittee leaders and their special guests, Naturalist CW Nicol, and Actress Saya Takagi.

We joined them afterwards, and all shared how it's time for each of us to take personal responsibility for our own healing. Man has forgotten he is Nature. He has forgotten because he is wounded, and lost in the play of his distracted mind. After a lifetime of stress, conditioning by family and society, and the confusion of ego, is it any wonder we see war, child abuse and the destruction of the Earth, all at the same time? By healing ourselves, we will know our impact on our Mother Earth, and each other. Isn't it time?

Awake Nature Began its latest chapter in Malibu, California. In May of 2007, members of the Native American Nations of Hopi and Chumash, brought a message of the sacredness of the Earth, and the blessings of pure water, which must be shared equally with everyone, and not be controlled by private corporations.

It was here I met Ruben Saufkie, a Sacred Water-Keeper of the Hopi, who I learned was travelling to Japan on the 5th of November. After my arrival in Tokyo, I connected with him, and scheduled a small workshop at Turtle Shrine in Zushi. The night he arrived, rain was falling, and we wondered what the turnout would be like. As you can see, the event was a great success!

The next day, Reiko, Ruben and I went to Kamakura to perform a blessing at the magnificent Crane Shrine. Later, we returned to Zushi Beach to drum, pray and dance. All in all, Ruben's presence in Japan was a special blessing. We look forward to hosting him later this year!
